Two old AI&ES master students and current PhD’ers presented their research in AI for medical images and computer vision. Simon Penninga talked about generative AI techniques (diffusion models and VAEs) to create an agent that functions as an “active perceiver” in ultrasound imaging. Lemar Abdi presented on unsupervised out-of-distribution (OOD) detection using generative models.

Together with the faculty, we organized a lunch lecture. Marc Heemskerk, who is responsible for the AI integration within the ASML decision processes, gave us a presentation on how ASML and other industry leaders are leveraging AI to drive massive innovation and transformation. They use Computer Use Agents to revolutionize digital processes – a cutting-edge technology soon hitting the market in an Enterprise Ready form.

Together with master association Odin, we organized a trip to Den Helder for 30 members. Here we got a tour around ship Zr. Ms. van Amstel. After the lunch organized by Kivi, we visited the maritime warfare centre. Here we got a presentation from them and “data voor onderhoud”, responsible for the predictive maintenance project.

This was our first event, organised even before we existed. The goal was to organise a get together and show that we will exist soon. In total, around 50 people showed up.
